HUNGRY
FOR MORE OF A MOVEABLE FEAST
Whatever
you do don't go to see FILLER UP! without
first eating dinner – and plenty of it.
Expatriate New Zealander Deb Filler’s comic and confessional
play is a delicious homage to food in which she sings, tells
stories and bakes a loaf of traditional challah bread.
Interspersing
song and storytelling, she recounts the story of a life spent
battling her weight under the loving but critical eye of her
kiwi Jewish family.
Written
and performed by Filler, the solo show has a delicate balance
of humour and poignancy, self-deprecation and mimcry.
She
plays a multitude of characters who bring the story to life...
as the smell of baking bread wafts through the audience, Filler
explores her relationships, her familial responsibility and
acceptance of who she is - weighty messages that were carried
lightly.
