Question:
What's a Kibrew?
A. A new, fruit-flavoured beer from New Zealand?
B. A free-trade hi-fibre white bread?
C. An exotic semetic citrus fruit, somehow cultivated in provincial
New Zealand?
Answer?
None of the above. It's D: A Kiwi Hebrew Comic, and there's
only one…her name is DEB FILLER!
New Zealand's only Jewish comedienne, internationally-acclaimed character
actress and story teller extraordinaire, DEB FILLER is a performer,
as hilarious as she is richly warm.
In
a richly blended feast of strange but true stories, she looks
back on her rise from schnitzels in Auckland via chicken fat
in syrup on New York's Lowers East Side, to her successes
at the top comedy venues of Europe and North America. On the
way, we meet a wonderful procession of wacky, larger-than-life
characters portrayed as only Deb can. From her meetings with
Leonard Cohen to Leonard Bernstein, to a disastrous audition
at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Deb will shake, rattle
and roll you in the aisles.

"Deb Filler can be described as Jackie Mason meets Tracey Ullman. She has the British comedienne's flair for mimicry and the lower east side social satirist's acerbic wit."
